The Importance of Packaging
Antioxidants like trans-resveratrol are very reactive to open air as they
will oxidize quickly. Product stability is critical to overall product
effectiveness. Resveratrol and other antioxidants require special packaging steps to maintain a high level of potency. The most important step in
this process is to produce Resvinatrol Complete™ in a nitrogen environment.
This procedure protects resveratrol from oxygen and light exposure. Next, by
using a nitrogen flushing
procedure, each capsule is manufactured in a temperature and humidity
controlled environment to ensure efficacy. Finally, we package each
capsule in an airtight blister card to further prevent exposure to oxygen and maintain
product quality.
Measuring Antioxidant Activity – The Power of Living
The National
Institutes of Health has compiled a large list of foods that contain
antioxidants. To help show us the power of these foods to absorb free
radicals, scientists developed a system that assigns values or an Oxygen
Radical Absorbance Capacity – ORAC to each of the foods according to how
powerful each food is at eliminating free radicals.
-
Resvinatrol Complete™
uses several of these sources to blend the antioxidants resveratrol,
quercetin, ellagic acid, and proanthocyanidins into a formula that exceeds
6000 ORAC units per serving.
The average person over
2years of age needs about 5558
ORAC* units per day from food or supplements
they consume. Approximately 80% - 90% of people in the world do not consume
even half of the daily required ORAC. The
reason we need to supplement is that as
we age, our natural free radical defense mechanism in the form of
macrophages is no longer able to eliminate all of the free radicals in our
bodies. Consuming fruits, berries, or antioxidant supplements with high ORAC
values allows the antioxidants in those foods to absorb free radicals not neutralized by our own macrophages. Side effects from free radical damage begin to manifest in the form
of aches, pains, lost energy, arthritis, strokes, hardening of the arteries,
and other maladies. It should be noted
that by age 40, our natural ability to neutralize free radicals is at 50% when compared to our youth.

To help understand this
chart, the ORAC value is represented by a number that measures the amount of
antioxidant activity in a single gram. The higher the value a food has the
more free radicals that food can neutralize. Fruits such as raspberries,
blackberries, and blueberries are exceptional food choices that contain a
high ORAC value. Roughly 25 grams of these berries will provide you with
your daily ORAC.

Complete™ Antioxidants – the Power of Living
Resveratrol
Resveratrol is the heart healthy antioxidant found in red wine.
Resveratrol is an important
antioxidant because of its remarkable properties to rid the body of free
radicals that attack and damage our cells. Some scientists say resveratrol is “the
Fountain of Youth.” Resveratrol is being researched
extensively by the medical community. Resveratrol is thought to be the
reason why French people can consume large quantities of fat in their diet
and remain relatively unaffected by the diseases normally associated with a
high fat diet.
The difference between the people of France and other cultures that consume
large quantities of fat in their diet is that they also consume red wine
with their meals.
Quercetin
Resvinatrol Complete™ is more than just resveratrol. Adding quercetin to
Resveratrol Complete is important for two reasons. First, two published studies now have found that resveratrol rapidly forms
conjugates. Quercetin can saturate and bind to the same compounds which
conjugate with resveratrol thus allowing resveratrol an extended life.
Quercetin also helps to activate the same Sirtuin gene that resveratrol
does, albeit less potently.
Quercetin belongs to
a group of plant pigments called flavonoids that are largely responsible for
the colors of many fruits, flowers, and vegetables. Secondly, antioxidants
such as quercetin can neutralize free radicals and may reduce or even help
prevent some of the damage they cause.
Ellagic Acid
Three important sources
of ellagic acid found in Resvinatrol Complete™ include muscadines,
pomegranate extract, and raspberry extract. This biochemical serves a number
of possible functions in these plants, regulating plant growth and seed
germination, and protecting them from microbial infections. Ellagic acid may
also protect plants from cancer-inducing chemicals, heavy metal poisoning,
and predation by insects and insect larvae. Since the early 1990s,
researchers have been discovering that ellagic acid offers health benefits
to humans as well. Ellagic acid is an important antioxidant due to its link
to chemoprevention. Research in animal and laboratory models has found that
ellagic acid inhibits the growth of tumors caused by certain carcinogens. A
number of double blind studies of humans are underway to determine the
effect of long-term daily consumption of concentrated raspberry extract on
cancer cell activity in the human colon, prostate, and breast.
Proanthocyanidins
Proanthocyanidins are widely
distributed in the plant kingdom and, in addition to being found in grape
seeds, are found in cocoa and
chocolate, apples, peanuts, almonds, cranberries, blueberries and in the
bark of pines, among other plant sources. Proanthocyanidins have been found to
have a number of antioxidant activities working in conjunction with
resveratrol.
Soy Lecithin
Soy lecithin is extracted from soy beans,
the same crop used to produce soy sauce and tofu (soy bean curd). Soy beans have tremendous medicinal potential.
Soy Lecithin binds chemically with cholesterol, thus reducing the amount
of pure cholesterol in the bloodstream. As more research is conducted,
more roles for this plant will be discovered.
